After last nights games in Detroit, North Carolina and Michigan State will play for the National Championship on Monday night. Other than being the only two teams left in the NCAA Tournament, these two teams also have something else in common: Maryland beat both of these teams this year. On Thanksgiving, Maryland took down then #5 Michigan State 80-62 in Orlando, and then on February 21st in College Park, Maryland beat then #3 North Carolina in an 88-85 overtime thriller.
Although Maryland's season wasn't as successful as most people would've liked to see, I think that this is something very encouraging for this young team, and for Maryland fans. So when you are watching the championship tomorrow night as these two great teams square off, remember what they both have in common, and also the heart that the Terps had in a rebuilding year. Who do you think will win it all in Detroit? I have a feeling that Michigan State, the hometown team, could pull it off.
