Also, tonight the NCAA Basketball Championship will be played at Ford Field in Detroit in front of about 75,000 fans at the stadium, and millions around the world. Who will it be? The favorites from the start, North Carolina, or the feel good, blue collar, hometown team in Michigan State? It has all the makings of a classic, and I know that after watching the O's start their season, and hitting the books for a little bit, I will be glued to my TV with some of Wing Zone's finest watching to see which of the top-10 teams that Maryland beat this season will be crowned this year's NCAA Champion. Tip off is set for 9:21PM EST on CBS.
And then there's the classic American tradition starting on Thursday; The Masters at Augusta National. Year after year, this golf tournament provides great finishes and signals that summer is on the way. Tiger Woods has to be the favorite to win this tournament, even though he is coming off of knee surgery. With his win two weeks ago, he is looking strong again, and there is no doubt that he will be in his major tournament form and show us that Tiger is back and just as good as before. I really think that he will pull off a victory at Augusta this weekened, and that will be a huge story, especially after the recovery that he has had to make the past few months following his injury. Definately look for Mickelson, Perry, Ogilvy, and others to make this thing dramatic though, as they won't go down easily. Tiger does have his work cut out for him, but he has proved time after time that he can handle that work and more.
Overall, what a great week for sports. Spring is in the air, summer is on the way, and the drama and excitement in the sports world will not disappoint, at least for this week. Enjoy.
